It’s officially Fall, ya’ll!! – see what I did there? Fall is my favorite time of the year. Leaves begin to turn gorgeous shades of oranges, reds, and gold. The stifling Alabama heat gives way to mild, sunny days and breezy nights with that certain “crisp” in the air. And the changing season presents the perfect opportunity to switch things up a bit with fabulous fall decor.  You’re probably changing your wardrobe to prepare for the Fall. So, why not update your home decor to embrace this special time of year? These simple, affordable fall decorating ideas will have your home well-dressed for the season.

Fall Decorating Idea #1 – Use seasonal fruit as decor.

Fruits like apples and pears placed in a wooden bowl or cranberries at the bottom of a candle holder make excellent fall centerpieces. I elect to use faux pears and cranberries that can be reused year after year. One caveat – If decide to go faux, be willing to spend a tiny bit more so that your fruit looks authentic. I purchased pears at Hobby Lobby for $4.99 each. I’ve had to stop a few guests from picking them up for a quick little snack.

Fall Decorating Idea #2 – Bring the Outside, Inside.

Incorporate elements of nature into your decor. Pine cones placed in a bowl, tree branches placed in a large glass vase, or acorns added to a candleholder all  create a rustic, earthiness to your space.

Fall Decorating Idea #3 –  Add textured pillows and throws to your sofa and bed.

Soft, luxurious velvet or faux fur pillows combined with a cable knit throw will make you want to curl up with a cup of warm tea on a cool Autumn night.

Fall Decorating Idea #5 –  Incorporate fall hues into your existing color palette.

Area rugs, throw pillows or table accessories are great budget friendly ways to add a splash of Autumn to your space. Pair warm oranges, reds and gold with neutrals like brown and beige; or experiment with muted greens for a more subtle effect.
